So, I double checked this forum just to make sure I didn't repost a "herr derr so obvious" thread.  However, much to my surprise it looks as though this type of thread doesn't exist yet.  Therefore, let me start with some shit I made in 3 minutes because I was bored but ended up falling in love with the style and plan on elaborating more on the ideas this summer.  I didn't do as clean of fades as I like, but w/e, it's pretty much a demo for me.

Dude, Garge, I friggin dig that man; it reminds me of Providence by Sonic Youth, which I think is absolutely beautiful. I would say definitely expand on some of those ideas you've got there, maybe add another layer of sound, like some more instrumentation or another ambient track.

You guys are going to think I'm a nerd, but for my senior project I composed a brass quintet. I've got some other recordings of instrumentals/jams/noise projects I've made, but this one is the most easily accessible, so I'll post it. The group only rehearsed for about an hour total, so the performance is far from flawless (which actually pisses me off because that means I haven't yet heard my composition played right...); however, I consider this a polished rough draft - it works, but I'll probably come back to it again sometime.

Senior Project - Brass Quintet No. 1 in Ab Major

Edit: also, if you want to laugh really hard at me...listen to these. It's a bunch of shitty recordings I made during middle school when I sucked at music (it's arguable whether or not anything has changed) and thought that making noise recordings was cool.

If only I could find a way to atone for my tonal sins Sad

At 0:52.... THAT BOOK. That fucking blue book has followed me for years.

Also, needs more Euphonium. Perhaps kick the trumpets and the horn and replace them with Euphoniums, then kick the Trombone for another Tuba (huehue).

Hahaha, I would probably go for that actually, except for the horn. Horn is fucking awesome, haha. I'd probably keep the trombone because I am not playing with another tuba player, haha; however, I think a euphonium instead of a trumpet would be cool, along with maybe a cornet or flugel instead of the remaining trumpet. Then the whole thing would be so much more...mellow. I like mellow. Or, I could make it a sextet and keep the trumpet and add the flugel.

Man, brass is fun.

You want mellow? Five Euphoniums, then.

Thanks man, I plan on it as soon as finals are over with and I'm out for the summer.  I'm liking your composition, didn't think it was lame at all.  I've heard some pretty out there stuff, nothing about yours is alarming at the least. :]

Why thank you sir! Yeah, on the legitimate compositional side of things, I'd like to do a bit more work on that, but I also want to write some other pieces for small ensembles, maybe some piano works. Composition is fun!

On the other hand, although I'm embarrassed about those recordings, I am sort of proud that I made some of the more complicated ones using only my shitty mic and audacity.

I completely forgot! I'm "in" a "band" called S.S.S.S.S. (Super Secret Sodomizing Soviet Sandwiches). If we were serious, we might be one of the most hipter bands ever since we really suck, but we're just a couple of friends who thought it would be funny if we made really crappy music together. I'll post a few songs once I find them on my computer, but our originals include such hits as:

- "Ambience/Metal"
- "Titanic Terror"
- "Two Notes"
- "That Song Where Sean Yells a Lot"
- "The Girl From Compton"
- "Cello Solo"

These songs (and maybe more!) will be posted later. Hold onto your butts.

Edit: These are the collective "good" songs which we have made.

Oedipus Rex http://www.mediafire.com/?s55ezr31aufci3v
That One Where Sean Yells a Lot http://www.mediafire.com/?bix94re7agqi4v8
Cello Solo http://www.mediafire.com/?rfu4iz5rcr024ka
Titanic Terror http://www.mediafire.com/?4q339mr1qe1mqq0
Two Notes http://www.mediafire.com/?hz0aopp62unmq6l
Ambience/Metal http://www.mediafire.com/?q81321w7rmr6rtm
The Girl From Compton http://www.mediafire.com/?yzzu73ooltuy1ku
War http://www.mediafire.com/?qcc7m9u2n87wpuw

Ambience/Metal is definitely my favorite and is probably the best. Nope, it is the best, no doubt. By the way, I'm the one playing bass in these songs. Also, in Ambience/Metal, I'm the one who sings "dissonance...tritone" in the beginning, and then I'm the guy who says shit like "I liked the ambience better!" and, "I like metal, like System of a Down" during the metal half.

P.S. Here's some Bach to make up for the shit I just posted
