I had to re watch that episode. To wonder what little subtle hints would explain the end of this finale. Nope. None that differ with the plot.

Walt actually manipulated every single thing. He even poisoned Brock. He controlled Gus, Jesse, and his family. And he got off clean.

It really makes you wonder if Gus was even the bad guy. He ran a clean business, didn't hurt anyone, just supplied addicts with stuff they would get through other means anyways -- Walt fucked him over. If Walt never came along, Gus would still be in the clear.

Walt was just paranoid. Gus probably would've let him walk away until he started doing a bunch of dumb shit.

I'm not sure if he would've left him walk. Remember, Jesse was the ultimate catalyst for Gus' hate. When he went after the two gangbangers, that started it all. Walt's not to blame there, so I don't know if he could've walked.
The good question: If they didn't overreact and kill Gale, would Gus have really had them killed? It was never said that they had to die. Just that Gus was coming to do something.. might've just been some punishment where he locked them up as meth slaves forever.

If they hadn't killed Gale, they probably could've gotten out of the situation alive and intact. Either way, they dun goofed. Gus is dead. Mike will probably be healthy again soon. Worst of all there is now a huge power vacuum in the drug trade. Killing Gus is only going to make Walt's life exponentially more difficult and (with any luck) result in both he and his family buried in unmarked graves somewhere in the New Mexican wilderness. Fuck 'em.

Hah. Just read something awesome from Vince Gilligan. Basic summary was that when Gus wanted to replace Walt with Gale, it was only because he considered Walt too high risk and that Walt overreacted and began his descent into the dark depths.
That's certainly a new way to look at it. Walt certainly IS paranoid.
As far as Mike? He's not gonna be mad. He likes Jesse a lot. I don't think he was too fond of Gus, anyway. He just worked for him. He's not gonna come after them, infact I could imagine him and Jesse forming some supercop team, shit, maybe even with Hank to fight the cartel.

False. Gus was not involved, the gang bangers were as bitter as Jesse was. Also, this:

I finished Breaking Bad up yesterday and it's one of the best series I've ever seen, I could go on about it for hours really. All the character developments and the acting/actors and the tweests in the plot... man.
